Setting up Requesting for Others

By default, everyone can request for themselves. It is common practice to enable certain users such as managers or service desk personnel to request for others. These users will be able to see and request all active shop offers (including special prices and conditions), even those created specifically for certain target groups.

When the responsible personnel have been decided upon, their requesting can be set up in the following way:

  1. Locate and open catalog 'Persons - SRM'. In standard Valuemation, the catalog can be found e.g. in the 'Requesting Configuration/Master Data' folder of business view 'SRM Catalogue Manager'.
  2. Select one or more users. These user are those who will be requesting for others.
  3. Right-click the selection and call context menu action 'Define for whom user can shop' (or 'For Whom the Person Can Request Services')
  4. In the editor that opens, select one of the options:
    • Self only - the very basic level, the users can only request for himself/herself
    • Self and persons assigned by condition - if selected, a condition determining for whom the users can request can be specified. For example, the users will be able to request for persons belonging to a certain location, department or cost center. This setting is often used with Service Desk personnel.

To specify the condition, use button 'Change Setting Containing Condition' and select 'Change Condition (for whom user can request)'

    • Anyone - the strongest option, these 'Requesting Deity' users will be able to request for all other users.

Note: The setting is stored in the form of Valuemation mainparameters.

Users who can request for others are presented with a catalog for target person selection during requesting. For situations when they do want to request for themselves, button 'For me' is provided in the catalog.

Specify for whom the current user can request

An alternative way to specify requesting for others is to specify it for the current Valuermation user. This can be done in the 'You can shop for' section of 'Settings - SRM & Procurement'. The same options (Self Only / Anyone / Self and persons assigned by condition) are available.
