Default Category for Item Class

It is reasonable to expect that the structure of shop categories will reflect the structure of requestable item classes. The concept of 'default category for item class' uses this correlation to simplify category assignment.

Assigning a category as 'default for item class' results in the following behaviour: when a shop offer is created, it is automatically assigned the category/categories assigned as default to the item class of the item type on which the shop offer is based.

For example, if item type 'Huiwhaua Smartbook' is of item class 'Mobile PC' and item class 'Mobile PC' is assigned default category 'Notebook', than every shop offer created for item type 'Huiwhaua Smartbook' automatically receives category 'Notebook'. This default category assignment can be changed as needed.

To assign a category as the default category for one or more item classes:

  1. Open the category for editing
  2. Go to reference catalog 'Default for Item Classes'
  3. Use the 'Search and assign existing item class' (+) button at the bottom of the tab
