Translations Made in Customizers

While the 'Translations of Application Text' Catalog is a central place for work with translations of Actions, Rules, Workflows, Views and Value Sets, each of the respective Valuemation customizers provides a 'Translate' function, which opens the 'Translations of Application Text' catalog with pre-selected relevant translation keys for the selected element(s) (action, rule, workflow etc.). If no translation keys for the element exist as yet, new default translations are created for the current Valuemation language. This eliminates the necessity to know the syntax rules for creating translations in the resource files.

For example, to provide the German translation of an action, it is no longer necessary to edit the 'ActionnamesText_de.properties' file in the 'resource\actions' folder. Instead, selecting the action in the 'Action Customizer' and clicking the 'Translate' button opens the 'Translations of Application Text' catalog with all translation keys pertaining to the action created and pre-selected. All there is left to do is specify a suitable translation for each translation key.

In each of the respective customizers, the translate action enables the following:

  • Action Customizer

The 'Translate' button (found on the 'Actions' tab) opens the 'Translations of Application Text' catalog with all translation keys pertaining to the action created and pre-selected.

  • Catalog Customizer

In the Catalog customizer it is possible to define the translation of the name of the catalog in all supported languages. This is then used as the default translation for the catalog in the side bar.

  • Rule Customizer

For 'Validation' rules only, the 'Translate' button opens the 'Translations of Application Text' catalog with translation keys for the validation message, i.e. the message that gets displayed when the validation condition is not fulfilled.

  • Workflow Customizer

There are two 'Translate' buttons in the Workflow Creation Tool (a.k.a. Workflow Customizer). These enable to specify:

    • Translations of the workflow definition

The 'Translate' button (found on the workflow definition pane) opens the 'Translations of Application Text' catalog with all translation keys pertaining to the workflow definition created and pre-selected.

    • Translations of workflow nodes

The 'Translate' button (found on the workflow node pane) opens the 'Translations of Application Text' catalog with all translation keys pertaining to the workflow node (currently selected in the upper pane of the Workflow Creation Tool) created and pre-selected.

  • View Customizer

The 'Translate' context menu action opens the 'Translations of Application Text' catalog with all translation keys for the currently selected group (i.e. view tab) created and pre-selected. This enables to specify translations for view tab names.

  • Value Set Customizer

In the Value Set Customizer, translation values (taken from the 'Translations of Application Text' catalog) are shown directly in the customizer itself.

    • Fixed Value Set

On the Value/Label ID tab, it is possible to specify translations for each of the value set values.

    • Object Value Set, Relation Value Set

With the 'Translate Value Set items' check box set to 'True' (found on the 'Value Set' tab), it is possible to use the 'Values and Translations' tab to specify translations for the currently applicable value set items (i.e. objects or relations currently fulfilling the 'Where-clause' condition)
