What Do You Want to Do?I want to... 1 Work in a particular area of business functionality. For instance, I want to work with requesting and procurement. Valuemation business functionality is divided into modules catering to individual areas of business such as service desk and ticketing, asset management, requesting and procurement etc. Each of these modules is represented by one or more business views. Expand the 'Business Views' section of the Profile/Settings Dropdown and look for business views relevant to the business area of your interest. For instance, requesting and procurement are covered by business views 'SRM Manager', 'SRM Catalogue Manager', SRM Request fulfillment' and 'Procurement Manager'. (Note: SRM stands for 'Service Request Management'.)
2 Approach the business area from a certain user perspective. For instance, I want to manage items offered by the service requests catalog. Individual business views available for a certain business area do exactly that. Some business views are intended to provide a streamlined set of tools for the end user, others offer depth and flexibility required by the administrator. Select a business view from the 'Business Views' section of the Profile/Settings Dropdown. For instance, select 'SRM Catalogue Manager' if you want to administer the service requests catalog.
3 Access the most frequently used functions and data in the most efficient manner. For instance, I want to start creating service offer packages and service offers straight away. The functionality of a business view can be accessed in different ways, depending on the selected perspective. Up to 3 perspectives may be available for a business view. The 'Start Page' perspective offers quick access to your favourite functionality via customizable smart tiles. The 'Work Page' perspective offers full scope of the business view functionality. The 'Dashboard Page' perspective is geared mainly at data overview. To start your work in the simplest way, select the 'Start Page' perspective from the Perspective Selector in the toolbar.
4 Start an action or view the data by a single click. For instance, I want to start creating service offers immediately. Smart tiles in the 'Start Page' perspective offer exactly that. Clicking a smart tile starts an action, opens a catalog or a folder with multiple catalogs. You can also easily rearrange the tiles and add your own. To start creating service offers right away, click the 'Create Service Offer' smart tile and follow the creation wizard.
5 See and access several types of data in one screen. For instance, I want to see all requesting-relevant catalogs and have the possibility to open them in the workspace. The InfoObject structure of Work Page and Dashboard Page makes this possible. Each page contains several InfoObjects of different types. It is also possible to add, remove and rearrange the InfoObjects. Select the 'Work Page' perspective from the Perspective Selector in the toolbar. For instance, standard SRM Catalogue Manager work page contains the 'Tiles' InfoObject, the 'Sidebar' InfoObject with a tree-like structure of available actions and catalogs, and workspace ready for the display of opened catalogs and editors.
For instance, as a catalog manager, I want to examine and analyze all service shop categories, possibly deleting some and creating new ones. You use Valuemation catalogs and editors to work with actual data. Catalogs and editors normally display in the 'Workspace' InfoObject which takes up most of the 'Work Page' perspective. Catalogs and editors can be opened in many ways. In our example, double-click the 'Service Shop Categories' item under 'Catalogs'/'Requesting Configuration' in the 'Sidebar' InfoObject.
