Resource Rules

Resource rules are conditions for selection of resources for a service instance. These 'Resource Rules' can be saved and used whenever the same type or resources needs to be reassigned, for example after the pool of available resources has been updated.

More than one resource rule can be defined for a service instance. Resource rules of a service instance are administered in the 'Resource Rules' tab of the 'Service Instance' editor.

Creating a Resource Rule

  1. Locate and switch to the 'Resource Rules' tab at the bottom of the 'Service Instance' editor.
  2. Call the 'Add Resource Rule' action in the tab (right-click context menu or the 'plus' button).
  3. A browser window with object types for which a resource rule can be created opens. These are the same objects types provided for direct resource assignment. (See 'Assigning a Service Resource' above.)

Select one of the object types and click 'Ok'. Multi-selection is not possible in this step.

  4. A query editor opens. Use it to specify the condition for selection of resources of the object type selected in the previous step and click 'Ok'.
  5. The condition is saved and listed in the 'Resource Rules' tab. At the same time, resources corresponding to the rule are assigned and listed in the 'Resources' tab.

  6. To edit an already specified resource rule, double-click the rule in the 'Resource Rules' tab. The 'Service Resource Rule' editor opens. Use it to edit the rule and save the changes. The content of the 'Resources' tab gets updated.
