Adding Documents to Service Records

'Documentation' objects provide additional information about the service via one or more attachments supplemented with categorization, description and status attributes.

Documentation objects can further be classified using their 'Documentation Type'. Predefined documentation types include e.g. 'SLA', 'Business Case', 'Testcase', 'Cost Calculation' etc. Relevance to individual object types can be specified for each Documentation Type, ensuring that only relevant documentation types are offered for assignment to records of the given object type.

For example, to link a 'Business Case' document to a Service Record:

  1. Open the Service record and switch to the 'Documentation' tab at the bottom of the editor.
  2. Call the 'Assign' or 'Create' context menu action. Use 'Assign' if a suitable documentation object already exists in the database, use 'Create' if a new document needs to be attached. We will create a new documentation object in this example.
  3. Calling the 'Create' action opens an editor for new 'Documentation' creation. To attach a 'Business Case' document, select Documentation Type 'Business Case'. Specify document 'Category', provide a 'Description' and use the 'Document Links' tab at the bottom of the editor to attach the actual 'Business Case' document.

  4. Click 'Ok' to finalize the new documentation creation and its assignment to the Service record.
