Brief Functionality Overview

The following points briefly summarize how Valuemation survey emails work.

  1. The Valuemation customization person creates an email template of the 'Survey' email category. The email body/bodies used in the template will contain a survey form and HTML controls inserted in the rich text field.
  2. Once at least one 'Survey' email template exists for an object type, it is possible to call the 'Send Survey' action for its objects. For instance, the support personnel could send surveys regarding customer satisfaction with the ticket handling process.
  3. To produce the survey email, Valuemation uses the workflow specified in the email form properties to construct a runlink containing information about the context of the email (the object for which the email has been sent and the sending user), the url and Valuemation workflow expected to process the information and the actual form data. The html code is sent to the recipient.
  4. The recipient's email client displays the html code. The recipient responds by entering data to the form and clicking the 'Submit' button.
  5. Upon submitting, the email client gathers all the information in the form of parameters and sends the data to the Valuemation web server. Valuemation runs the specified workflow to process the data. For instance, the user response may be registered in a new ticket description created for the source ticket.
