Actions InfoObjects Customization

Action InfoObjects provide another way for Valuemation users to start workflows. The workflows assigned to individual Action InfoObjects are defined and managed in the InfoObject Actions catalog.

InfoObject Actions Catalog

Open the InfoObject Actions catalog from the Sidebar InfoObject to define and manage the individual Action InfoObjects. All of the Action InfoObjects listed in this catalog can be found in the InfoObject Selector under the appropriate InfoObject category and can be dragged into the desktop.

Note: The availability of URL InfoObjects in the InfoObject Selector also depends on the Authorization settings. The InfoObjects have to be authorized as Technical Object Types in the Authorization Manager to be available.

InfoObject Actions in the Edit View

If you want to edit the existing Action InfoObject or create a new Action InfoObject, select 'Edit' or 'Create' from the right-click menu. The Action InfoObject editor opens. It contains some general fields and the most important workflows assignment section on the Workflows tab.

The Actions InfoObject editor contains the following elements:

Master tab:

  • Name

Internal name of the Action InfoObject.

  • Label ID

LabelID of the Action InfoObject used for the translation.

  • Category

The InfoObject Category which the Action InfoObject will be listed under in the InfoObject Selector. If no Category is assigned, the InfoObject will be displayed on the root level only.

You can manage the InfoObject Category assignment using the adjacent control buttons.

  • Released

If selected, the InfoObject appears in the InfoObject Selector. Otherwise the InfoObject is not available there and cannot be dragged to the desktop.

Comments tab:

  • Comments

Enables you to add a personal comment to the Action InfoObject.

Reference Catalogs: Workflows

  • Translated Name

    Translated name of the workflow.

  • Name

    Name of the workflow.

  • Order

Definition of the position inside the InfoObject.

  • Icon

    Relative path to the icon.

Below you can find control buttons which enable you to manage the workflow assignment. Clicking the 'Edit' or 'Search and Assign' buttons opens the browser of available workflow definitions which you can pick the required workflow from.

Note: The workflows assigned to the Action InfoObject are equivalent to the common workflows which can be found in the Sidebar InfoObject.

The selected Action InfoObject can be translated using the 'Translate' button. The Translate button will launch the Translation of Application Text catalog which enables you to define the translation.

Workflow Order Priority and the Icon Assignment

If you double click on the selected workflow link on the Workflows tab, the 'Link InfoObject Workflow' editor appears.

Here you can define path to the icon for the workflow link and the requested order of the workflow links (as they are to be displayed in the Action InfoObject).

  • Order

Sets the order priority for the selected workfow link which will result in the button order on the Action InfoObject. The order numbers go in hundreds, the lower number always has the higher priority (i.e. 100, 200, 300... = priority numbers in descending order.).

  • Icon

Sets the path to the icon. The root folder is "images/InfoObject". The use of "gif" or "png" format is recommended.

Formatting the Button Text

The button text on the Action InfoObject buttons can be formatted according to predefined HTML style sheet classes: ActionTitle and ActionDesc.

The Translate button on the Action InfoObject editor automatically suggests the usage of the style sheet classes and presets the appropriate syntax in the Standard Translation for the button text. You have to insert your button title and button description only.

The preset syntax:

<
Insert your text here

insert your description here
