Creating a New Transient Object Type

The process of creating a new Transient Object Type is a bit different to the Persistent Object Type creation. Since the main difference between the Persistent and Transient Object Type from the creation standpoint is that the Transient Object Type is not linked to any table, there is no Retrieve Table dialog box after you click the 'Create Transient' button in the Customization Browser window. The Transient Object Type Customizer appears instead. The attributes specification and module assignment for the Transient Object Type are the same as those for the Persistent one.

To create a new Transient Object Type, proceed as follows:

  1. In the Customization Browser window, click the 'Create Transient' button.

The Transient Object Type Customizer appears:

  2. The customizer consists of three tabs were you can define the Transient Attribute:
    • Transient Object Type

Write the name, personal description and click 'Choose Icon' to choose an icon.

    • Transient Attributes

Please see the Transient Attributes Tab chapter.

    • Modules

Please see the Modules Tab chapter.

Note that the attributes specification and the module assignment for the Transient Object Type are the same as those for the Persistent one. Extended properties are the optional properties of the object type. See the Edit Extended Properties topic for information on using the button.

  3. Complete the Transient Attribute definition and click 'Apply' to save it.
