Configuration Baseline

A baseline means the current image of a Configuration Item (CI) or a group of CIs at a particular time to be used for comparison and adaptation purposes later. It is a reference of the original state as a comparison against the current position. A CI is an IT Asset system with linked IT components. The image is time-dependent and can be versioned. The content/scope of an image can be configured.

A configuration baseline is used for future builds, releases and changes.

Settings

A variety of settings can be made in advance for the baseline processing by an authorized user (administrator). Such settings include single user or group processing, versioning, and scope of the "backups".

Starting Points

A baseline can be created using the 'Create Baseline System' button available on the 'Baseline Systems' referenced tab of the system edit view. Baselines for more than one system can also be created from a catalog of systems.

Baseline Settings

In the 'Baseline Settings' window, change the settings of baseline handling:

  • Specify prefixes, statuses and limits
  • Select check boxes for inclusion of individual system relations
