Catalog levelA) Catalogs of the object type for which the Gantt chart has been created
The basic scenario is using Gantt charts in catalogs displaying object types for which Gantt chart definitions have been created. These will typically be object types with prominent time aspect. For instance, crucial attributes of a reservation are its start time, finish time and duration. Consequently, standard Valuemation comes equipped with Gantt chart definitions for the Reservation object type and catalogs of reservations can be switched to the Timeline view.
Setting up a catalog for the use of Gantt charts is done in the 'General' tab of the Catalog Customizer.
B) Catalogs of object types related to an object type with Gantt chart
Gantt charts can also be used with catalogs of an object type which itself does not have a Gantt chart definition but is related to another object type which does.
For example: The 'Resource' object type does not have a Gantt chart but the 'Reservation' object type does. Consequently, a catalog of resources may be customized so that it can be switched to the Timeline view. This Timeline view then displays as Gantt chart the related objects (for which Gantt charts have been defined). In this example, a catalog of resources in the Timeline view would display reservations to which individual resources are assigned.

This "secondary" Gantt chart use is set up in the catalog customizer of the object type without Gantt chart by specifying a relation to the linked object type with Gantt chart.
