Calling the Object Type Customizer

The Object Type Customizer is primarily accessed from the Customization Browser. The dominant part of the Customization Browser is the Object Type browser and the adjacent control buttons which allow you to call the Object Type customizer in the following way:

  • If you select and double click an object type directly in the Object Type browser, the Object Type Customizer is called.
  • Use the control buttons next to the Object Type browser to manage the object types.

    The following actions lead to opening the Object Type Customizer:

    • Create Persistent

      If you click the 'Create Persistent' button, first the 'Retrieve a Table' dialog box appears. After you complete the initial object type definition and click the 'Configure Object Type' button, the Object Type Customizer is called. Here you can complete the configuration of the new Persistent Object Type.

    • Create Transient

      If you click the 'Create Transient' button, the transient Object Type Customizer appears. Here you can define a new transient object type.

    • Edit

      Enables you to edit an existing Object Type. Select the Object Type you want to edit in the Object Type browser. The Object Type Customizer opens.

Alternatively, it is also possible to access the Object Type Customizer from the following places:

  • From a catalog
    1. Right-click on the opened catalog to call the catalog context menu.
    2. Select 'Edit Object Type' from the 'Customize' menu to call the Object Type Customizer.

  • From the Catalog Customizer
    1. Open a catalog in the Catalog Customizer (i.e. edit the catalog).
    2. On the General tab, there is an 'Object Type' field which contains the object type the catalog refers to.
    3. Click the 'Edit' button next to the 'Object Type' field to call the Object Type Customizer.

  • From the View Customizer
    1. Call the View Customizer.
    2. On the Group Layout tab, there is an 'Object Type' field which contains the name of the object type for which the view is defined.
    3. Click the 'Edit' button next to the 'Object Type' field to call the Object Type Customizer.

  • From the editor
    1. Right-click on the editor to call the editor context menu.
    2. Select 'Edit Object Type' from the 'Customize' menu to call the Object Type Customizer.
