Release Management Use Cases

In this section, we are going to Create/Request Release Package and follow it throughout its lifecycle. Creating/Requesting a Release Unit is the second most important use case next to working with the Release Package.

Model Releases make life easier if you need to work with Releases which occur regularly.

The context of the Release-Change association is demonstrated in the Create RFC out of Release topic.

Release Lifecycle Statuses

Throughout its life cycle, the Release object proceeds through a defined set of statuses. Status transitions are predominantly handled by the Valuemation Business Process Engine (BPM). Status changes are tracked and stored in the release log descriptions.

Release Processing

While processing the tasks which are assigned to users, a progress bar continuously provides an overview indicating in what phase of the Release Management process the user is.
