Adding and Removing Catalogs

Adding a Catalog to the Sidebar InfoObject

Before you can add a catalog to the Sidebar InfoObject, the following conditions must be met:

  • The 'Allow Catalog in a Sidebar' check box, which can be found on the General tab of the Catalog Customizer, has to be selected.

This does not perform the actual adding of the catalog to the Sidebar InfoObject but merely makes this adding possible. Only the catalogs with 'Allow Catalog in a Sidebar' check box selected appear on the 'Choose Catalog' list of the catalogs available for the 'Add' operation.

  • The desired catalog should fit to the functional context of the selected Business View.

To add a catalog to the Sidebar InfoObject, proceed as follows:

  1. In the Objects mainfolder, choose a folder in which you want the added catalog to be placed. This can be the Catalogs root folder or any other folder underneath.
  2. Right-click the catalog folder icon.
  3. Select the 'Add catalog' action from the menu.

The Add Catalog dialog box opens.

  4. Select the desired catalog.
  5. Click 'OK' to confirm.

The catalog has been created and is displayed in the Sidebar InfoObject now.

When adding a catalog using the Add Catalog dialog box, you can take advantage of the search-as-you-type feature. It enables you to use dynamic, real-time search when searching for a catalog. The search field will dynamically present suggestions and auto-complete queries before you are even done typing. Both the translated and untranslated names are taken into account. This feature speeds up the search process significantly.

Removing a Catalog from the Sidebar InfoObject

To remove a catalog from the Sidebar InfoObject, proceed as follows:

  1. Right-click the selected catalog.
  2. Select the 'Remove' action from the menu.

A small warning dialog box appears.

  3. Click 'OK' to proceed.

The reference to the catalog is removed from the Sidebar InfoObject. The catalog itself (the catalog definition) remains in the database and can be added again if necessary.
