Report Parameters

The use of parameters allows for more complex reports. Associated objects can be included in a report using parameters. The Parameters function allows you to chose only relevant business objects for the report you have selected.

We distinguish between Main Parameters and Derived Parameters.

  • Main Parameters / Derived Parameters

Main parameters represent attributes of the primary business object for which the template is valid. They also serve as a link to the derived parameters, where by derived parameters we mean attributes of associated (“secondary”) objects.

For instance, if a report displays a system and lists the components allocated to that system, then the system is a main parameter (you want the report to display this particular system and its components) and the components are derived parameters (they are components belonging to this particular system). Both types of parameters can be used as report items (either embedded in text or displayed in a table).

  • Global Parameters

Certain standard functions are available to include in a report information such as date, time, page number etc. See 'Creating a Report: Syntax Rules for Parameters' for more information.
