Valuemation Catalog Customizer

The Catalog Customizer is a customization tool where the Valuemation catalogs are created and configured. While the Object Type Customizer is used to define object types which will be available in Valuemation, in Catalog Customizer it is possible to create selections and extractions based on these object types and make them available to different users depending on their specific requirements.

The Catalog Customizer comprises several tabs which are used for:

  • Definition of the layout and the look of a catalog. It concerns the available columns and attributes, their order, sorting, rendering conditions etc.
  • Restricting the information content by creating a default query for the catalog.
  • Specifying views used for performing operations on the objects in the catalog.
  • Assigning the catalog to Valuemation Business Modules.
  • Making other miscellaneous settings for the catalog.

There are two ways to customize catalogs:

  • Full customization (including the catalog definition creation)

The full customization is available only when the application is running in the Admin mode. It is usually being performed by the administrator or the customizer who are managing the Catalog Definitions (technically speaking). The full version of Valuemation Catalog Customizer is used and the result of such customization affects catalogs of all users.

  • User customization

The User customization is available both in Valuemation Admin and User mode. It allows a user to make adjustments to the already existing user-defined catalogs. A limited version of Valuemation Catalog Customizer is used and the result of such customization only affects catalogs of the user performing the customization. User customization is called by the Edit User-defined catalogs item in context menus.

Most topics in this section deal with full catalog customization. The issues specific for user customization are described in Catalog Customization in User Mode.
