Running the Anonymization

Once configured, the anonymization can be run either manually or using the DPM.

Manual Anonymization

Let's imagine the following use case: Ten years after an employee has left the company, the Valuemation application manager is asked by the HR department to remove the data.

As this is an ad-hoc anonymization of a single person, it can be done manually.

  1. Open the 'Anonymization Configurations' catalog and locate a suitable anonymization configuration for 'Person' object type.
  2. On the configuration, run catalog context menu action 'Anonymize'.
  3. A catalog of those objects of the anonymized object type which fulfill the condition specified in the anonymization configuration opens. Select the person whose anonymization is requested and click 'Ok'.

    Notes:

    • It is possible to modify the filtering condition of the catalog.
    • It is possible to select multiple objects for anonymization.
  4. The selected object is anonymized and an information dialog about the result gets displayed.

Technical note: The result of the anonymization is a complex database update performed directly in the database, including the Audit schema (all History Banks are considered).

Automated Anonymization

Automated Anonymization is performed by the Data Protection Manager, possibly in combination with other data protection actions (archiving, deletion).

Anonymization Logging

All anonymization actions (as well as other data protection actions) are logged in the 'Data Log' catalog.
