Ticket Category

The Ticket Category is a tool of Release categorization at a lower level. It is applied when a new Release is being created. The categorization by category can be useful for reporting or for an appropriate selection of a particular Support group.

The Category editor provides the following fields:

  • Ticket Category

    The name of the category.

  • Parent Category

    The category at a higher level in the hierarchy.

  • Level

    The Level within the hierarchy. Select the Level from the drop down list.

  • Comments

    Explanatory comments.

  • Valid From

    It is effective from this date.

  • Valid To

    It is effective until the chosen date.

  • Synonym

    For categories, synonyms can be defined. It is useful for identifying the right category also by the synonym. Example: Monitor - Display (the synonym).

In the lower part of the Ticket Category editor, the following reference catalogs are available:

  • Subcategories

    The Ticket Categories which are assigned to this Parent Category. The Level within the hierarchy is also listed.

  • Ticket Types

    The Ticket Types associated with this Ticket Category. The parent Category of a Ticket is dependent on the Ticket Type.
