Release Description

A Release consists of one or more Release descriptions. Each Release description describes a step in the process of Release handling and documents the status change so that the Release record could be examined in detail anytime later.

A new Release description is automatically created and added to a Release with every status change. It is also possible to create and add the description manually.

The Release descriptions can be found in:

  1. The edit view of a Release. The existing description can be edited and a new description can be added here using the appropriate buttons below.
  2. The 'Release Descriptions' catalog which can be opened from the sidebar. However, it is more common for the Release descriptions to be accessed from the Release to which they belong.

Release Description in the edit view

In the edit view, the Ticket Description contains the following fields:

  • Description No.

Release Descriptions are numbered sequentially to mark their place in the sequence of events.

  • Statement Type

The Statement Type of the Release description delimits the shorttext. It helps to keep the descriptive variations to minimum by eliminating the need for extra descriptive words.

  • Shorttext

The standardized text that is used as a description.

  • Description

A field where you can enter any other relevant information.

  • Create Date

The date on which the Release description was created. It can be important for tracing the Release progress.
