Reorganizing the Sidebar

Sometimes it may be useful to create a custom structure of objects in the sidebar - to create new folders, add catalogs or move the already present catalogs and folders around to fit your way of working.

Reorganizing Folders

Create a new folder:

  1. Right-click the folder one level above where you want the new folder to be created.
  2. Select the 'Create folder' action from the menu.
  3. Enter the folder name in the dialog box which gets displayed.
  4. Click 'OK' to complete the folder creation.

A new folder is created inside the initial folder right-clicked in step 1.

Remove a folder from the sidebar structure:

  1. Right-click the folder which you want to delete.
  2. Select the 'Remove' action from the menu.
  3. Click 'OK' in the dialog box which gets displayed.

The selected folder with its content is removed.

Copy or move an existing folder (including its content):

  1. Right-click the folder you want to copy or move.
  2. Select the 'Copy' or 'Cut' action from the menu.
  3. Right-click the folder one level above where you want the folder to be copied or moved.
  4. Select the 'Paste' action from the menu.

The selected folder is copied or moved to the new location.

Note: The root folder 'Catalogs' cannot be copied or moved.

Reorganizing Catalogs

Add a catalog:

Before a catalog can be added to the sidebar, its use in the sidebar has to be enabled. Go to the General tab of Catalog Customizer and set the 'Allow Catalog in a Sidebar' check box to True.
Only catalogs with 'Allow Catalog in a Sidebar' check box selected appear in the 'Choose Catalog' list of the catalogs available for the 'Add' operation.

To keep things clean, consider also whether the particular catalog fits the functional context of the selected Business View.

Adding a catalog:

  1. Right-click the catalog folder to which the catalog should be added.
  2. Select the 'Add catalog' action from the context menu.
  3. The Add Catalog dialog box opens. Select the desired catalog.
Note the search-as-you-type feature which filters the list of catalogs available for addition according to your typing.
  4. Click 'OK' to confirm.

The catalog is added to the folder right-clicked in step 1.

Remove a catalog:

  1. Right-click the catalog which you want to delete.
  2. Select the 'Remove' action from the menu.
  3. Click 'OK' in the dialog box which gets displayed.

The selected catalog is removed.

Copy or move an existing catalog:

  1. Right-click the catalog you want to copy or move.
  2. Select the 'Copy' or 'Cut' action from the menu.
  3. Right-click the folder one level above where you want the catalog to be copied or moved.
  4. Select the 'Paste' action from the menu.

The selected catalog is copied or moved to the new location.
