Preparation for Installation

Before you begin, you must:

  • Check whether the target system meets the minimum system requirements (see documents 'Valuemation Architecture' and 'Valuemation - Supported Platforms' available on the Valuemation Support page of the USU web site).
  • Check the Java Runtime Environment

Java™ Runtime Environment (JRE) is the name for the package developed by Sun that includes the Java Virtual Machine, the Java Web Start program, the Java control panel, and other components. The term "runtime" refers to the fact that the package contains just what is necessary to run programs that have already been developed.

The Sun Java™ Runtime Environment is provided with the Valuemation installation package.

JRE free can also be obtained here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/index.html

If you are unsure whether a correct Java version is installed on your computer or if a new installation is necessary, contact the USU customer support. You will need to know your Valuemation version and your current Java version.

To determine the Java version, open Windows Command Prompt and use command: java -version

  • Obtain the database connection parameters for the server where Valuemation data is stored.
