Unlocking Workflows

The workflow lock is set after migration when a metaworkflow has the 'forMerge' status (see Workflow for Merge). Such workflow has to be merged first and then it can be unlocked.

To unlock a locked metaworkflow, the 'Quit and Release Lock' function in the Workflow Creation Tool

or the 'Lock/Unlock' function within the Workflow Definitions Catalog can be used.

The Lock Workflow mechanism also prevents a metaworkflow from being edited until all its running instances are in the state FINISHED or STOPPED.

Note: The question whether a user can unlock a workflow lock or change a workflow definition is not addressed here, because it is handled by the Valuemation Authorization Manager. For more information, see the Authorization Manager chapter.
