Existing Standard Value Set

If scenario (A) from topic 'Choice Parameter - Three Scenarios' applies and a suitable parameter value set has been found in the browser, double-clicking it in the browser directly opens the 'Parameter Definition' editor for new parameter definition creation.

To further work with the parameter value set, expand the 'Possible Values' editor section. The following options exist:

  • Modify standard value set globally: button opens the standard value set for editing. Beware that changes made this way will affect all parameters where this set is used.
  • Modify standard value set locally: this way the values set can be modified only for this parameter and without affecting the globally shared standard values set. Modification is limited to changing the order of the values and filtering unwanted values out. Other properties of the individual values remain defined at the standard value set level and cannot be changed locally.
The 'Modify standard value set locally' action creates references to the underlying standard value set and works with these references (filters and re-orders them). If the standard value set is changed globally after it has been used by the action, these changes do not affect the parameter. To propagate the changes to the standard set, it would be necessary to reset back to the standard set and modify it locally again.
  • Modify value set locally: the button disconnects the used value set from the standard value set. A private copy of the set is created. This copy can be edited at will and these changes will not affect other parameters.
