Asset Management Object Types

This documentation section provides an overview of Valuemation object types used for the Asset Management functionality.

  • Main Object Types

Object types representing real world objects that are at the core of Asset Management. These will be described in more detail.

    Example: System, Component

  • Categorization Object Types

These object types make it possible to categorize the main object types from different perspectives. Categorization is used for grouping of objects according to business-relevant criteria, for customization of views, catalogs and processes; and for definitions of object relations (CIRD).

Example: System Type, System Class, Usage Type

  • Auxiliary Object Types

Other object types used in Asset Management. Most notably:

    • Object types representing other objects of the asset environment, some of these are shared with other business functionality modules

Example: Documentation, Domain, Cost Center, Location

    • Object types handling relations between objects of other object types

Example: Component Assignment to System, System Assignment to Cost Center

Note that the above listed object type categories have been introduced only for documentation purposes. No functional distinction of this type is used in the application itself.
