Enable Simple Search by Attachments

In catalog simple search, it is possible to enable searching by attachment-related attributes, e.g. by attachment name.

As simple search is taken care of by the simple search view, you need to customize the simple search view of the appropriate object type.

  1. Open the 'View Customizer' in Valuemation Rich Client.
  2. In the 'All Views' window, locate the object type and its simple search view. Click 'Edit'.
  3. In the 'View Customizer' window, go to the 'Group Layout' tab. In the 'Resources for.../Attribute' section, locate the attachments collection and select a suitable attribute, e.g. 'Name: text' (attachment name). Click 'Add' to add this attribute to the simple search view.
  4. Optionally, fine-tune the attribute properties and its position in the view using the 'Properties' and '(arrow) up'/'(arrow) down' buttons.
  5. Click 'OK' to finalize the changes.

You should now be able to find the selected attachment attribute in the simple search catalog section and use it to search in the catalog. For example, if you need to find all 'System' objects that have an attachment whose name contains the word "specifications" or "specs", just type 'spec%' in the simple search attachment name attribute and click 'Search'.
