Super Template Report

Super Template Report is a report definition which can be used with any catalog.

In simple terms, super template report is 'generic enough' to be used with any catalog. Its defining characteristics are:

  • it has no parameters
  • it has exactly one table report item suitable for any object type, that is with no columns (or just the Row Number column, see explanation below).

The table is used only to define the visual style of the information displayed in the table (positioning, framing, colors etc). The optional Row Number column can be used to define the visual style of dynamically generated columns (justification, font, width etc).
The report can optionally have any number of image or text report items (typically fixed report items, including for example an image report item with the company logo, a text report item with the company name & address, a text report item with the page number and date etc).

When a report definition meeting this criteria is created and saved, it is automatically marked as a super template report. From now on it will always be offered in the list of template reports when running the Print With action. This is the only report which has to be defined so that we can print from Valuemation.

Super template report is used when the Print action is called and no other report has been specified as the template report for the catalog being printed. Only one super template report should be present in a given database.

When printing a catalog or object(s) selected in a catalog using the super template report, the generated report will contain all columns of the printed catalog.
