Business Keys

Using the 'Business Keys' page, users can specify their own prefixes and/or suffixes for business keys. Note that the actual business keys for a particular object type are defined on the Business Key tab of the Objecttype Customizer.

Columns in the Business Keys list

• Object Type

  Name of the business object.

• Attribute

  Attribute which acts as business key.

• Prefix

  Character prefix for the business key.

• Suffix

  Character suffix for the business key.

• Length

  Total length of the business key (including prefix and suffix).

Prefix, Suffix and Length can be changed by inplace editing.

To customize business keys:

1. Click the 'Create Key' button in the 'Business Keys' page of 'User Settings'. A dialog listing the existing business keys opens.
2. In the list, select the business key to be customized and press the 'Select' button. A user-specific copy of the business key is added to the 'Business Keys' page of 'User Settings'.
3. Use inplace editing in the 'Business Keys' page to customize the prefix, suffix and/or length as needed.

   The 'Remove Key' button can be used to remove the selected business key from the list. This deletes the business key customization but the original business key remains intact.

4. Press 'OK' or 'Apply' to confirm the settings, 'Cancel' to close the page without saving the changes.
