Supplier Manager Settings

Some aspects of Supplier Manager functionality can be influenced by Supplier Manager settings. To enter the settings page, call action 'Settings - Supplier Manager' from the Supplier Manager sidebar.

Settings description

  • Current User, Mapped Person

As person assignment plays an important role in the Supplier Manager functionality, the current user must be mapped to a Valuemation person object. Use the Current User / Mapped Person settings section to make sure a correct person is mapped.

  • Who can create evaluation inputs?

This setting limits the possibility to create evaluation inputs to a subset of users according to their mapped person's relation to the evaluated supplier.

The options are - evaluation inputs for a given supplier can be created by:

    A) Only a user mapped to a person which is assigned as a contact person for the supplier and whose process role in the assignment is 'Supplier Relationship Manager'.

Less precisely but more understandably: A supplier can be evaluated only by its contact persons in the 'Supplier Relationship Manager' process role.

    B) Only a user mapped to a person which is assigned as a contact person for the supplier (can create evaluation inputs for the supplier) but the person's process role in the assignment does not have to be 'Supplier Relationship Manager' - it is enough if the person is in the 'Supplier Relationship Manager' process role in at least one other contact person-supplier assignment.

Less precisely but more understandably: A supplier can be evaluated by any of its contact persons as long as the person is in the 'Supplier Relationship Manager' role for at least one another supplier.

    C) Any user with standard permissions for the 'Evaluation Input' action.

Less precisely but more understandably: Any user can create evaluation inputs. The mapped person's relationship the to evaluated supplier does not play any role.

  • Who can work on evaluation inputs?

This setting limits the possibility to edit evaluation inputs in the same way as described above for evaluation input creation.

  • Ask the user whether to run the calculation

Select the check box to enable the following behaviour: When evaluation input is finalized by calling the 'Complete' action, a dialog is displayed asking whether to perform the evaluation calculation for the supplier right away or not.

  • Run calculation immediately after complete

If selected, the default behaviour is to perform the evaluation calculation immediately after an evaluation input is completed. This means that:

    • If 'Ask the user whether to run the calculation' is also selected, then default value in the dialog is 'Yes' (run the calculation).
    • If 'Ask the user whether to run the calculation' is cleared, then the evaluation calculation is performed immediately after an evaluation input is completed - no questions asked.
  • User can change the calculation period

If selected, it is possible to specify the time period for which a given evaluation is calculated. If cleared, the option to specify the time period is not provided and the evaluation is calculated for a time period equal to the union of 'Experience From / Experience To' intervals of individual evaluation inputs entering the calculation.

  • User specific weight up variance (default min / max threshold)

Individual evaluable competencies are not equally important for the overall evaluation of the supplier. That is why each competency has attribute 'Competency Weight' which determines its weight coefficient in the weighted average calculation. 'Competency Weight' values are specified for the 'Evaluable Competency' objects and are used as default weights of individual 'Evaluation Input Items' based on the given evaluable competency. (Evaluation input items are rows in the 'Competencies' reference catalog of 'Evaluation Input'.)

The evaluator can modify the weights of Evaluation input items (i.e. competencies) in the evaluation input. Settings 'User specific weight up variance (default min / max threshold)' determine to what extent the weights can be modified.

Note, however, that this user-specific competency weight modification is currently not supported in standard Valuemation.
