CTM Solution

The Customization Transfer Manager (CTM) eliminates most of the manual deployment drawbacks. First it does away with the manual processes described in the Manual Deployment Process topic by automating the key processes. Next it brings the automation to the customization sequences and guarantees transparent transfers among various environments.

The key aspects of the CTM deployment are as follows:

  • Definition of environments and sequences. They can be defined individually for each customer. By default, there is no predefined set available although at least the Development and Master stages must be available.
  • Usually also the Production stage is defined but the stages in between are optional and can be defined individually.
  • The customization is organized by Packages.
  • The Packages can have so called Customization Objects. The Customization Objects comprise either the SQL files or XML files.
  • There is the own CTM database. It is the database entirely used by the Customization Transfer Manager. The CTM database is mandatory for CTM to work correctly.
