Reference Type

Reference Type allows to specify which Business Object Types may be referenced in Ticket descriptions.

The IPC processes are highly integrated in other Valuemation processes and that Business Objects from the other Valuemation processes can be accessed and referenced in the IPC processes. As there are a large number of Business Object Types in the Valuemation Module, the Reference Type allows you to specify which Object Types may be referenced in Ticket descriptions. Typically these will include System, Component, Type, and User. Often Location, Request, etc. may also be defined.

The Reference Type in the Edit View

Open the Reference Type in Edit Mode by double-clicking on the highlighted Reference Type in the catalog or selecting the Edit Option. The Reference Type is displayed in Edit Mode.

The following attributes are available:

  • Name

The name of the Reference Type.

  • Attribute

The attribute and business object type to be referenced. Often it will be the business key but in this case (UserID) it is an attribute of the Object Type.

  • Default filter for browser

A default filter for the object browser can be defined here.

  • Parameter for filter (from ticket)

    Enter a Parameter.

  • Valid

    Boolean Y/N.

  • Comments

Comment field allowing for a detailed explanation.

Using the Reference Type

Reference Type can be used in a Ticket Description. To allow for optimal flexibility, two Reference Types can be used – the functionality is identical for both.

For example, a ticket registering a user's problem to access the network could use one of the reference fields to reference the User ID attribute of the affected user.
