Adding Order Items to Already Ordered

In some situations it may be necessary to add order items to an order which is already completed (i.e. goods has been received). In such scenario, extra care has to be taken to handle individual statuses correctly, as described below.

Let's assume a situation in which it is necessary to add extra order items to an order which has been created, ordered and the goods received. As it is not possible to create new order items when the order is in status 'Ordered' or 'Partially Delivered', the order has to be revoked by changing its status to 'Pending All'.

When this is done, the already delivered order items are not deleted automatically and care must be taken to make sure the associated products are not ordered for a second time. After the second ordering, both order items will be in status 'Ordered' because they entered the ordering process again. During next incoming goods, the flag 'Completed' provides correct information that there are already enough products compared to the ordered quantity. However, as the application cannot know where the products came from (they were not received during any incoming goods done after ordering), correct statuses must be set manually.

The fact that the status has been left 'Ordered' is a warning sign that something was not standard.

Setting the status of the "old" order items manually to 'Complete' or 'Partially Complete' (as appropriate) will confirm that the "old" products are correct and the order item is really complete.

Alternatively, it is possible to receive the new items and optionally delete the old products or assign related components to some "trash" system.

When an order is ordered for the second time and some products have already been delivered, a warning message gets displayed.

Add Unordered

Another way to add order items to an order which is already ordered or partially delivered is to use action 'Add Unordered' instead of manual order items creation.

The 'Add Unordered' action can be called from context menu of the 'Incoming Products from Order Items' tab of Incoming Goods.

This action will create additional order items with special flag indicating 'not ordered (bonus)'. It should be used to receive extra products that do not belong to any ordered products.
